Hello.
My name is Alex Charlton, and I am currently employed as a Graphic Designer at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, the largest trust in the UK. This role has given me invaluable experience in applying my design expertise within a professional healthcare environment. I create impactful digital designs that highlight the dedication of our staff and communicate essential information to patients about specific procedures in a clear and engaging way.

As part of the Medical Illustration department, we provide a wide range of services, from wall art designs and roller banners to animated videos. Through this work, I have gained hands-on technical experience in areas such as printing on different materials, laminating, cutting, and assembling roller banners.

Alongside my role, I have recently launched my own freelance design business. This has given me the opportunity to work closely with clients to bring their ideas to life. My projects have included complete company rebrands—covering everything from brand identity and guidelines to logos and promotional materials. I have also applied my skills in UX/UI design to build functional and visually appealing websites that support business growth and user engagement.
My Story
I have gained extensive experience working in the hospitality sector as a chef, which helped me develop strong team leadership, organisational skills, and effective time management. These qualities have transferred seamlessly into my passion for Graphic Design, where I first discovered my creative strengths through consistently high grades in art and graphics during high school and college. I went on to earn a Distinction in the Art Foundation Diploma at Manchester Metropolitan University, which laid a strong foundation for my design journey.

Most recently, I graduated with a First Class degree in Graphic Design from the University of Huddersfield. This experience further sharpened my digital design skills, strengthened my creative thinking, and enabled me to consistently deliver high-quality projects that meet industry standards.
